On the afternoon of 23 November 2017, the badminton competition of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Sports Meeting Fall 2017 began at the Jingan Gymnasium. The competition was divided into men's singles, women's singles, mixed doubles of male and female, mixed doubles of teacher and student, and teacher-student doubles. 15 players from the College of Film and Television and Department of Public Education, including teachers and students, participated in the competition. The competition resulted in Wei Dongxiao (teacher) winning the championship for men’s singles, Lu Jiamin (teacher) winning the championship for women’s singles, Sheng Simei (teacher) and Wei Dongxiao (teacher) winning the championship for mixed doubles, Lu Jiamin (teacher) and Shen Ting (teacher) winning the championship for teacher-student doubles, and Shen Ting (teacher) and Liu Siyu (student) winning the championship for mixed doubles of teacher and student. The sports meeting was based on the principle of friendship first and aimed to promote the physical and mental health of teachers and students through sporting activities so that they may go into their work and study in a higher spirit.
