On the morning of 29 November 2017, the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) and the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) was held in the conference room of the Foxi Building at STA. The cooperation mainly aims to earnestly carry out the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, implement the spirit of the National Meeting on Ideological and Political Work in Higher Education Institutions, and speed up the construction of STA School of Marxism. Yu Xinhui, Party Secretary of SASS, Fang Songhua, Director of China Marxism Research Institute of SASS, Lou Wei, Chairman of STA, Huang Changyong, Vice Chairman and President of STA, and the persons in charge of the relevant functional departments of STA and SASS participated in the signing ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Hu Min, Vice Chairman of STA.
After watching the promotional film of STA, Vice Chairman Hu Min first introduced the basic situation of the cooperation. Both parties will focus on the research in the areas of the Marxist theory of literature and art, Marxist philosophy of art and Marxist aesthetics of art, and the scope of cooperation will cover a number of aspects including discipline construction and research cooperation, appointment of special professors, talent cultivation and so on. Director Fang Songhua and President Huang Changyong signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of SASS and STA respectively. Chairman Lou Wei and Party Secretary Yu Xinhui made speeches. The two parties reviewed the past experience of cooperation and exchange and agreed unanimously that it is necessary and promising to promote cooperation between STA and SASS. There is great room for cooperation between the two sides in carrying forward the Chinese traditional culture and learning from the western classical philosophy as well as in the Chinization and modernization of Marxism. The cooperation is bound to be two-way and win-win. The strong research capacity of SASS can provide ideological support for STA to further enhance the ideological height and cultural deposits in its artistic creations, while the rich teaching and artistic practice of STA can provide a powerful impetus and an important source of material for the research work of SASS.
As part of the signing ceremony, the plaque unveiling ceremony of the STA School of Marxism was also held.
