On the afternoon of 22 November, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held the meeting to mobilize the employment promotion for graduates of 2018 and wrap up the employment promotion for graduates of 2017. The meeting was held in the conference room of the Foxi Building and was chaired by Hu Min, Vice Chairman of STA, who made an important speech at the meeting.

At the meeting, the Department of Student Affairs introduced the overall situation of the employment promotion for graduates of 2017. As of 31 August 2017, the actual number of graduates in 2017 was 556, and the overall employment rate of 97.12% was basically equal to that of the same period last year, and the employment situation was good. It is expected that 528 students will graduate in 2018, including 102 graduate students and 426 undergraduate students, and the total number of graduates is expected to be 28 less than last year. AT the meeting, the Department of Student Affairs also reported on the "Graduates Tracking Survey of Shanghai Theatre Academy (2006-2015)" recently completed by the Office of Employment Promotion, which was carried out mainly from the three aspects of current employment status, feedback on teaching and feedback on career development. Through the analysis of the questionnaires, the main conclusion from the survey is that the quality of employment of graduates of STA is generally high, the degree of major-job matching and degree of job satisfaction are very high, and the degree of fit between the type of employing unit and undergraduate specialty and the degree of matching and relevance between job and undergraduate specialty are all relatively high. The fact that the graduates play a very important role in the culture and art industry conforms to STA’s goals of cultivating professional art talents in arts which is “Strive for Excellence and Perfection”. Secondly, the freelance profession has a very positive significance for the graduates of an art major, and the satisfaction of the graduates who have started their own business is the highest. At the same time, graduates also suggest to increase the professional courses, content of internship and practice, credits of elective courses and so on, and to strengthen career education for enrolled students.

At the meeting, Hu Min, Vice Chairman of STA, pointed out that we should take employment promotion for graduates as a highly important task, which should be handled in an “organized” and “planned” manner with “supervision” and “care”, and that we should actively study the work of employment promotion, understand graduates’ intention for employment, and help graduates with their career planning in a targeted way.
