Tumen, an alumnus of STA Acting Department’s Mongolian Class of Year 1986, wins Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actor at 54th Golden Horse Film Festival

On the evening of 25 November 2017, the 54th Golden Horse Awards of Taiwan announced all the award winners. Tumen, an alumnus of the Mongolian Class of Year 1986 of the Acting Department of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), won the Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actor at the 54th Golden Horse Film Festival for his outstanding performance in the film “Old Beast”.

This year, Tumen first won the Best Performer award at the FIRST International Film Festival for the film "Old Beast", he was then nominated for the Golden Rooster Award for Best Actor for the film “A Simple Goodbye” and, this time, he successfully won the Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actor for the film "Old Beast" again and was a "black horse" of this year’s Golden Horse Awards.

In 1985, he got the first movie role in his life when he was still a third-year student at STA. He played the role of a general in the film "Genghis Khan" and, from then on, he was also tied to Genghis Khan. With the role of "Balai" which he played in the film "The Sorrow of Brook Steppe", he left a deep impression in the heart of the audiences for the first time, and was nominated for the Golden Rooster Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Asia-Pacific Film Festival Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1996.

After that, Tumen played the role of Genghis Khan twice in the film "Genghis Khan" in 1998 and the film "An End to Killing" respectively, and won the Society Award of the Golden Phoenix Awards in 1999 for his outstanding performance in the historical blockbuster "Genghis Khan". In 2001, he played the role of "Zuo Lengshan" in the TV series "Laughing in the Wind", which was equally impressive.
