On the afternoon of 21 November 2017, the delegation of the Japan Tian Hu Exchange Association and Oriental Culture and Art Troupe visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). Ms Hu Min, Vice Chairman of STA, Prof Gong Baorong, Vice President of STA, Ms Zhang Yunlei, Deputy Director of International Exchange Centre, Mr Yu Jianchun, Editor of Editorial Department and Mr Luo Ren, teacher of Acting Department, participated in the reception of the delegation, which was also joined by the student actors/actresses in the cast of "Hurricane".

Ms Tian Wei, President of Japan Tian Han Exchange Association, is the descendent of Mr Tian Han. Having heard that STA had recently held a series of activities in celebration of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Chinese theatre and had produced the play "Hurricane" which is based on the life story of Mr Tian Han who was the author of the lyrics of the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China, she organized especially this delegation comprising Sino-Japan friendly personages from the Japanese cultural circle and representatives of overseas Chinese in Japan to visit STA.

Ms Zhang Yunlei first expressed the welcome to the Japanese friends and introduced the history and current situation of STA. The members of the delegation performed drama performance, recitation of Tang poetry and some other cultural performances. Next, the video clips of "Hurricane" were shown to the delegation, with Mr Luo Ren explaining the storyline and cultural background of the play. Finally, the teachers and students from the cast of “Hurricane” sang the school anthem of STA whose lyrics was also written by Mr Tian Han. The atmosphere during the event was very friendly and lively.

Mr Xu Dazhen, Vice President of Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, also participated in this exchange activity. He expressed that the Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese is such an entity that provides the overseas Chinese with the platform to carry out exchange and that the Sino-Japan cultural exchange event held at STA today in commemoration of Mr Tian Han who devoted himself to the Chinese and Japanese theatre undertaking is very successful and meaningful.
