On the afternoon of 13 November, the First STA International Forum on Actor Training and Education concluded with great success at the New Space Theatre of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). This forum brought together 39 academic experts from 25 top tier art universities and theatres, who gathered at STA and worked collectively to address the new trends and new challenges in the future development of actor training and education worldwide on and around the theme of "Current Situation and Development of Contemporary Actor Training and Education".
During the forum, the participants carried out in-depth discussion and exchange on and around the theme of the forum in the forms of seminars and workshops. The participants held heated discussion with the delegates in attendance and the teachers and students of STA, which generated fruitful results. The forum lasted for three days during which there were five academic seminars, twenty-eight presentations by experts, five excellent workshops and one screening of the classic documentary “Stanislavski and Yoga” and, at the same time, we completed the interviews with thirty-five participants. After the conclusion of the forum, we will publish “Record of Events of International Forum on Actor Training and Education”, "Collected Works of International Forum on Actor Training and Education” and “Interview Record of International Forum on Actor Training and Education”.

Lou Wei, Chairman of STA, gave a speech at the closing ceremony, in which he thanked all participants and affirmed the fruitful results of the forum. He hoped that this forum will be a starting point, i.e. a starting point of the friendship and wisdom of all involved. The closing ceremony was presided over by He Yan, Dean of Acting Department, STA. He expressed that all the presentations, interviews and workshops made by and with the participating experts will be compiled for publication so that the forum will have a more far-reaching impact.

Then, Li Lihong, Dean of Acting Department, School of Theatre, Film and Television, Communication University of China, David Bridel, Dean of School of Dramatic Art, University of South California, Sergei Tcherkasski of Russia State Institute of Performing Arts, and Feng Yuanzheng, actor of Beijing People’s Art Theatre, famous Chinese movie and TV actor and acting educator, delivered speech. Dominique Lecoyer, Director of Teaching, L'Ecole supérieure d'art dramatique du Théâtre national de Strasbourg, created a poem especially for the forum, which won warm applause from the audience at the closing ceremony.

The First STA International Forum on Actor Training and Education was a great event of the international performing education circle. It will consolidate and develop the relationship among the major art universities and famous art groups in the world, and will realize the connection of resources, high-end leadership and innovative interaction. In the meantime, the sparks arisen from the collision of the world’s top masters in actor training and education will also illuminate the way forward to explore the actor training and education in the future..
