On 2 November 2017, a 4-member group led by Wang Shanchun, Party Secretary and Principle of the Suzhou Art School visited the Chinese Opera School affiliated to the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) for exchange and research. Han Yongsheng, Party Secretary and Liu Aixiang, Deputy Party Secretary of our school, as well as the responsible people from the relevant offices, participated in the discussion and exchange with the visitors.

At the meeting, the two schools conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on education and teaching management, teacher training and continuing education, construction of teaching staff and performance appraisal. Our school introduced the characteristics and highlights of the teaching management including the expert-supervised teaching, open classes, basic skill competitions and so on. In the teacher training, all those measures adopted by our school such as sending selected teachers out for training, attaching importance to the inheritance of classic plays, holding various kinds of lectures and so on were highly praised and affirmed by the counterparts of the Suzhou Art School.

Party Secretary Han Yongsheng of our school expressed that Shanghai and Suzhou share the geographic advantages, our two schools have a lot in common, and it is particularly important for us to learn from each other in terms of the measures to improve the quality of teaching and experience in effective management. Party Secretary Wang Shanchun of Suzhou Art School also expressed that the visit has been very beneficial and provided lots of food for thought, and hoped that the two schools will interact more closely and join hands in creating a better future for the cause of Chinese opera education.
