On 31 October 2017, the leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Educational System Working Committee for Women visited the Trade Union and the Working Committee for Women of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) to inspect the status and progress of building and qualifying for the municipal level “Women’s Home”, leading a 7-member group also comprising the responsible people of the women’s organizations in the demonstration units for the Top 10 Women’s Homes of Shanghai.

As the leader of the party committee directly in charge of the work in this regard, Ms Hu Min, Deputy Party Secretary of STA, participated in the appraisal meeting. The meeting was presided over by Ms Wang Su, full-time Vice Chair of STA Trade Union. From STA internally, representatives of female professors, representatives of young teachers and representatives of members of the Working Committee for Women were also invited to participate in the appraisal meeting.

Ms Wang Su introduced the basic situation of building the Women’s Home in STA, and the leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Educational System Working Committee for Women held discussion with the representatives participating in the meeting. It was agreed by all that in the work of the STA Working Committee for Women in recent years, the leadership of the committee paid due attention to taking the vital interests of the female teachers and staff as the starting point, and provided the teachers and staff who had difficulties with not only care and comfort for their physical illness, but also encouragement in spirit with the warmth of friends and relatives. The leaders of the higher-level working committee for women greatly affirmed the achievements made in building the Teachers’ Home and Women’s Home and commended the contribution that “Reading”, i.e. the brand program of the Women’s Home, has made in spreading the culture of voice and language and delivering positive energy to the society with nearly 300 performances in seven years.

The achievements in the work of building the Women’s Home are results of the efforts of all members of the current Trade Union and Working Committee for Women over the past several consecutively years in the areas of functional facilities, organizational functions, cultural and sporting activities, and many more. The theme of building the Women’s Home is “Moving Forward with Dreams”. It is hoped that STA’s Trade Union and Working Committee for Women will keep moving forward carrying the dreams of all female teachers and staff.
