On 21 October 2017, at the Teachers’ Home of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, Deputy Director-General Mr Zhou Hongyang and Secretary-General Mr Danzenglunzhu of the Department of Culture Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region met with the Tibetan students currently studying at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, bringing the care and best wishes on behalf of the students’ families far away in Tibet and the relevant government departments. The meeting was chaired by Yang Jia, the academic mentor of the class, and was attended by 25 students of the Tibet class led by Deji, the accompanying teacher from Tibet.

The leaders were very concerned about the students’ study and life, especially their health conditions. They expressed to the students the expectations of the Department of Culture of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Lhasa Theatre Company and the Tibetan people for them, and urged the students to cherish the opportunity to be able to study at the Shanghai Theatre Academy which is the palace of art, study hard during the four years of university and stay healthy.

Teacher Yang Jie also put forward the requirements for the students with regard to their study. She hoped that the students will study the professional courses with increased efforts while maintaining the fine ethnical cultural characteristics, and also asked the students to work hard in learning English so as to lay a solid language foundation for being able to go onto the international stage in the future.

The students actively engaged in the exchange with the leaders and teachers. They expressed their gratitude to the Department of Culture of the Tibet Autonomous Region and the Shanghai Theatre Academy and reaffirmed their determination to treasure such a valuable opportunity, study well and strive hard in order to be able to make their own contribution to the cultural course of Tibet in the future.
