On the morning of 13 October, the ceremony to appoint Ms Wei Haimin as a visiting professor was held in the conference room of the Foxi Building of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). STA Party Secretary Lou Wei, STA President Huang Changyong, Deputy Director-General of Shanghai Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office Wang Lixin attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by STA Vice President Gong Baorong. The heads of STA’s personnel department, planning office and publicity department, as well as the main leaders of STA’s Chinese traditional opera college and affiliated Chinese traditional opera school, also attended the ceremony. The responsible persons of the Mei Lanfang Foundation, as well as a number of guests of honor from the performing and research circles of the Chinese traditional opera, were also invited to the ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Vice President Gong Baorong extended the warm welcome to Ms Wei Haimin. President Huang Changyong presented the visiting professor’s certificate of appointment to Ms Wei Haimin and also presented the STA school badge. Ms Wei Haimin gave a short speech, in which she told the story of her own growth and talked about her ideas of work in the performance, studies and talent cultivation of Peking opera after her appointment as a visiting professor of STA. The leaders and guests present at the meeting reviewed the achievements of Ms Wei Haimin in the performance and studies of Peking opera, as well as her important contributions in promoting the growth of young talents of Chinese traditional opera, the cross-strait exchange in the performance and studies of Peking Opera, and the inheritance and innovation inheriting and innovating of the Peking opera and Kunqu opera arts. Deputy Director-General of Shanghai Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office Wang Lixin and STA Party Secretary Lou Wei also made speeches respectively. The participants spoke in succession, talking about the connections between Ms Wei Haimin and STA and her ideas of cooperation with STA. As Mr. Wei herself said, she hopes that she could "start anew" in Shanghai Theatre Academy. At the end of the ceremony, the leaders, guests and Ms Wei took a group photo together.
