On the afternoon of 20 September 2017, the Shanghai Theatre Academy held the roundtable meeting of counselors and head teachers for Year 1 students at the Oriental Land Shanghai Teenagers Extracurricular Activities Campsite. Deputy Party Secretary Hu Min, relevant teachers from the Student Affairs Office, Youth League Committee, Logistic and Security Division, as well as the counselors and head teachers from all colleges and departments, attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Director of Student Affairs Office Xu Yong. The main purposes of the meeting were to get the feedbacks from the counselors and head teachers of all colleges and departments on their work so far since the new semester began and listen to proposals and suggestions for the work going forward.
At the roundtable, the counsels and teachers scrambled to speak putting forward their opinions with regard to the behavioral characteristics of university students born after the 1995, the adaptability of new students after enrollment and class management concerning new students. The teachers expressed that it is necessary to provide strict enrolment education to the Year 1 students and follow it up with the one-on-on talks, further strengthen the communication and exchange between the teachers and students and, in the meantime, attach great importance to the nomination of the student leaders of the class, establish complete class organization and make further play of the self-governing abilities of the students. Teacher Deji, the counselor for the Tibetan acting class, provided an update on the Tibetan class and sincerely thanked the Shanghai Theatre Academy for the warm care provided to the students.
Deputy Party Secretary Hu Min listened carefully to the opinions raised by the teachers of all colleges and departments, expressed cordial sympathy to all staff who had participated in the military training for the new students. In the meantime, she asked that the counselors and head teachers of all colleges and departments should ensure that the communication and exchange between the teachers and students were well maintained and that they should get down to the “front line” during the course of the military training to find out the actual situation of the students in detail, thus making a good preparation for the day-to-day student management in the future. She also emphasized that the rules should be established and implemented from the very beginning and reminded all the teachers to carry out standardized and strict management. Finally, Deputy Party Secretary Hu Min outlined her expectations on the ideological and political work of all colleges, departments and grades, asking that all colleges and departments should adopt the college/department-specific approach to explore and plan the ideological and political work according to their respective features and taking into consideration of the characteristics of their students so as to achieve the good growth of the overall quality of the students.
