On 20 September, President of Shanghai Theatre Academy Huang Changyong led the group comprising Director of Academic Office Shen Liang, Deputy Director Guo Chenyan, Dean of Acting Department He Yan and supervisor Mi Zeng and Fan Yisong and went into the classroom to observe the class “Scene Training for Acting – Chinese Classical Drama and Shakespeare’s Drama” conducted by Teacher Jin Ye of the Acting Department.
During the course of the class, Teacher Jin Ye instructed the students to develop their own learning methods and training plans according to each student’s mastery of previous professional study, and put forward constructive opinions and further requirements specific to each student's classroom work.
After the class, President Huang Changyong and the two supervisors talked with Teacher Jin Ye and the students commenting one by one on the students’ classroom work based on Shakespeare’s drama, encouraging the students to read Shakespeare-related books and highlighting that Shakespeare, as a milestone in the theatre world, is worth in-depth exploration by every student. In view of the scene training adopted by Teacher Jin Ye as the teaching method for Shakespeare’s drama, the President and supervisors all spoke highly about it.
Classroom is the main platform for teachers’ teaching, but also the main platform for teachers’ growth and development. The fact that the leadership of the Shanghai Theatre Academy went directly into the classrooms to observe classes has reflected the high level of important that the Shanghai Theatre Academy has attached to teaching. This will have a significant impact on promoting the quality of education and teaching quality and strengthening the cultivation of teaching and learning ethos, thereby achieving the continuous improvement of the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s overall standards and quality of teaching.
