On the afternoon of 15 January, the President of Germany’s Folkwang University of the Arts visited Shanghai Theatre Academy. STA President Han Sheng and Vice President Gong Baorong received the quests.
In Germany, Folkwang University of the Arts takes a leading position in Germany in fine arts, music, drama, design and, particularly, modern dance which is well known globally . This time, Folkwang University of the arts will use the Western modern dance to interpret the Chinese classic story “Dream of the Red Chamber” and the performance will be touring in China. The Germen side would like to take this modern dance version of “Dream of the Red Chamber” to participate in Shanghai Theatre Academy’s week-long event of Rising Artists Works as well as opening performances of Shanghai International Dance Centre. The talks between the two sides were warm and friendly and set the tone for cooperation with STA College of Dance in student exchange, joint production and joint rehearsals. The meeting was significantly meaningful for international and professional development of STA College of Dance as well as the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures in art.
