Twelve representatives of the founding journals from the Shanghai Theatre Academy, Central Academy of Drama, School of Liberal Arts of Nanjing University, Institute of Cultural Relics of Chinese Traditional Operas affiliated to Shanxi Normal University, Chinese Theatre Publishing House and National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts participated in the establishment meeting. Officials of Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau and Shanghai Education Commission also attended the meeting and gave speeches.

The delegates reviewed and approved the articles of association of the Alliance, elected the executive council and secretariat, and exchanged views on matters about the future cooperation and exchange among the members of the Alliance. The meeting reached the consensus that the Alliance should follow the principles of “own together, plan together, share together, accomplish together” and realise coordinated development with personalized features.
