Following on from the micro-film co-production between Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) and Montclair State University in New Jersey, USA during the summer vacation of 2014 which generated great results and on the basis of the common desire of both sides to carry out in-depth cooperation, this year STA continued with the organization of the student working group to go to the USA for the film co-production project.

In July, led by Prof Yao Kougen, a group of eight teachers and students of STA spent two weeks at the Montclair State University for a micro-film co-production project. From the script preparation to film shooting, the hard work not only trained the students’ professional abilities, but also emphasized on their communication abilities. During the project, the teachers of STA held meetings with Mr Daniel Gurskis, Dean of Media, TV and Television College, Montclair State University. Both sides exchanged ideas of further developing the cooperation and expanding it into degree courses and teacher and student exchange programs. Mr Daniel Gurskis extended the invitation for STA to send a delegation to participate in the American Theatre Festival to be held at Montclair State University. Prof Yao Kougen was delighted to note the enjoyable cooperation between the two institutions over the past five years and the importance of keeping the momentum of the cooperation. He undertook to report the ideas for further cooperation proposed by the American side back to the STA senior management and relevant departments and hoped that many of them could be implemented soon in cooperation projects in different areas with an endeavor to demonstrate the STA features in the Sino-American cultural exchange.
