Suggestive drama "Chinese Dream" is staged at Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Romania

The suggestive play “Chinese Dream” performed by the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) made its debut at the 22nd Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Romania on 20 June 2015, marking the first appearance of STA’s 2014 new version of “Chinese Dream” on the international stage.

This play was written by Prof Sun Huizhu of STA and Prof Fei Chunfang of East China University 28 years ago. The new version of “Chinese Dream” has been staged in many Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou for many times, with planned performances in other countries in the future.
The performance at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival was held at the auditorium of Lucia Blaga University. Mr Xu Feihong, Chinese Ambassador to Romania, Mr Constantin Chiriac, Chairman, Organizing Committee, Sibiu International Theatre Academy, Mr Song Shaofeng, Dean, Sibiu Confucius Institute and audience from Lucian Blaga University attended the performance.

This year is the 22nd year of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival. The 10-day long festival concluded on 21 June. More than 2,500 artists from 70 countries and regions including China gathered here where there were more than 400 activities at 67 venues. Located in central Romania, Sibiu was elected the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2007. As an ancient city with rich cultural sentiments, Sibiu is a popular destination for tourists, while Sibiu International Theatre Festival, the most influential art festival in Romania, has long become a name card of this ancient city.
