In the evening of 21 May, the experimental theatre play “Sacrifice” adapted, directed and performed by the teachers and students of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) was staged successfully during the ATEC International Theatre Festival in Columbia as the finale performance. The STA team to the 9th ATEC International Forum & ATEC International Theatre Festival was led by Mr Guo Yu, Vice President of STA.
“Sacrifice” was adapted from Ji Junxiang’s Yuan Dynasty drama and sponsored by the Cross-Disciplinary Talent Cultivation Project and Shanghai University Museum Construction Project of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. As a play of experimental theatre, the performance was only for 45 minutes, featured enriched contents, clear rhythm and excellent acting skills.
At this year’s ATEC International Theatre Festival, universities from Columbia, Mongolia and China (STA and The Central Academy of Drama) presented excellent performances. Experts and scholars of theatre education from Asia made keynote presentations and hold discussions on the themes of Games and Actor Training and Theatre Games and Society at the forum. Prof Li Jianping, Prof Zhang Jindi and Mr Zhang Lingnan (on behalf of Prof Wang Bonan) of STA delivered keynote presentations.
