On 7 and 8 May, the Shanghai Youth Peking Opera and Kunju Opera Company of the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Chinese Traditional Opera College totaling over 50 people went to Nanjing to give performance. The performance was jointly held by the STA Chinese Traditional Opera College and the Jiangsu Performing Arts Group’s Kunju Opera Company, featuring a series of classical excerpts of the Kunju opera performed by the graduates of the STA Chinese Traditional Opera College. This performance in Nanjing was also the only performance of the 2015 STA Performance Season that was held outside of Shanghai.
Mr Li Hongliang, Director of Jiangsu Performing Arts Group’s Kunju Opera Company, recipient of Plum Performance Award of China and National Grade A Actor, and Mr Yang Yang, gold prize winner of Red Plum Cup Chinese Traditional Opera Competition, personally took part in the performance of two excerpts together with the students of the Shanghai Youth Peking Opera and Kunju Opera Company. The students were greatly benefited from the sophisticated performance and professional dedication of the two renowned actors.
