From 6 to 10 May, the students from the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Class of Acting 2011 participated in the 10th University Theatre Festival Fez, Morocco. Their production was directed by Li Xiaopeng, a MFA student of the Department of Directing, under the academic supervision of Shi Jun, teacher of the Department of Directing. The production was staged successfully at the Fez Theatre in competition with almost 20 performing groups from countries in three continents of Asia, Africa and Europe including Italy, Germany, Ireland, Morocco, Serbia, Bulgaria and Oman. The production was eventually selected by the international jury of the festival as the winner of the Best Performance Award, as well as the nominees of three other awards, i.e. Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress, winning full recognition and praise from the local theatre artists as well as artists and scholars from different places of the world.
During the festival, the participating groups interacted with the artists from different places of the world for exchange and exploration in the academic areas and professional practice.
At the award ceremony, Li Xiaopeng, director of the production, presented the T-shirts with the logo of the Shanghai Theatre Academy to the students of the Fez University and expressed the desire for more exchange in the professional concept and techniques in the future.
