On the morning of 8 May, the Morocco film and TV delegation led by commercial representative, Mr Bouaanou Driss visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). STA Party Secretary Mr Lou Wei received the delegation, together with the heads of the relevant offices and departments of STA. The two sides hold friendly discussion. The other members of the delegation included Vice President of Morocco Film Association Mr Suissi Jamal and Chairman of Europe-Oriental Documentary Film Festival Mr EI Ouassani Sohaib.
Mr Lou Wei expressed the warm welcome to the guests and introduced STA’s development during its 70-year history as well as its international exchange and cooperation in the field of arts. The two sides exchanged views on the opportunities for cultural exchange in the context of The Belt and Road Initiative. Mr Bouaanou Driss, Mr Suissi Jamal and Mr EI Ouassani Sohaib introduced the current development of film, TV and cultural industries in Morocco by way of short film, pictures and presentation, and expressed the keen desire for cooperation with China.
After warm discussions, the two sides identified a series of opportunities for cooperation, e.g. gradually developing close exchange and cooperation in such areas of culture and arts as theatre, film and TV, creative studies, Chinese traditional opera and dance; establishing intercollegiate relationships including teacher and student exchange, film screenings and workshops. STA welcomes artists from Morocco to participate in STA’s international cooperation programs such as the International Experimental Theatre Festival and Winter Institute. The Morocco side also welcomes STA to participate in the festivals and international exchange programs of the Morocco film and TV sector and hopes that there would be opportunities in the future to work with STA on co-planning and co-investment in film making thereby promoting the cultural understanding and exchange between the two countries.
