On the morning of 25 April, a five-member delegation led by Prof Shigeru Ito, Vice President of Kobe Gakuin University, Japan visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Ms Zhang Yunlei, Director of International Exchange Centre and Prof Lu Jun, Director of Literary Creation Centre of STA received the guests. Other participants from STA included Prof Yao Kougen, Prof Zhang Fuhai and Associate Professor Zhang Weipin.
During the meeting, Prof Lu Jun expressed the warm welcome to the Japanese scholars for their visit, on behalf of STA Vice President Prof Gong Baorong, who was unable to receive the guests personally due to his attendance at the STA teachers’ congress. He briefed the guests on the development history of STA and current situation of disciplines. Prof Shigeru Ito introduced the mission of the Kobe Gakuin University as well as the endeavors in strengthening the disciplines. As a long-established private university, the Kobe Gakuin University aims to cultivate international-oriented talents. The purpose of this visit was to explore the possibility of cooperation with STA in the international student, undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The STA representatives shared their opinions with the guests on these matters. Ms Zhang Yunlei of the International Exchange Centre, who had come especially from the teachers’ congress, provided detailed information about the matters of concern to both sides including the ways and time periods for conducting such programs. Prof Shigeru Ito thanked the STA representatives in anticipation of further exchange and cooperation with STA.
After the meeting, the Japanese guests had a guided tour of the main buildings, classrooms, theatres and sculpture collection of Chinese and foreign theatre masters on the STA campus.
