Ministry of Culture holds key laboratory working meeting at Shanghai Theatre Academy

The Ministry of Culture’s key laboratory working meeting was held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy on 21 April. Mr Yu Cheng, Director-General, Department of Cultural Science and Technology, Ministry of Culture, presented the plaques to the first group of key laboratories accredited by the Ministry of Culture. The Shanghai Theatre Academy’s President Han Sheng and Vice President Huang Changyong attended the plaque presentation ceremony.

In order to expedite the formation of the innovation system for cultural science and technology, the Ministry of Culture has listed the establishment of the key laboratories as one of its priorities and accredited the first group of six key laboratories subject to a strict evaluation process last year. The Ministry of Culture’s Key Laboratory of Digital Integrated Innovation for Performing Arts, which has been established through the Shanghai Theatre Academy, is the only one from Shanghai among the first group of accredited key laboratories.

Director-General Yu Ping expressed that those organizations that provide the carriage of the key laboratories should focus on supporting the further development of the conditions and innovation capacity of the laboratories in such aspects as human resources, funding, projects and research conditions; they should take the attraction and cultivation of outstanding talents and the building and advancement of innovation teams as the priorities and KPI of the key laboratories; they should expand the key laboratories’ external exchange and cooperation, establish and optimize the science and technology resource sharing mechanism of the key laboratories, strengthen the key laboratories’ exchange and cooperation with research institutions and universities at home and abroad, and vigorously enhance the internationalization level of the key laboratories.

The agenda of the Ministry of Culture’s key laboratory working meeting also included the key laboratory seminar and key laboratory project presentation and appraisal etc.

At the same time, the 2015 National Cultural Science and Technology Promotion Program and Ministry of Culture Science and Technology Innovation Projects Appraisal, which were headed by the Ministry of Culture’s Department of Cultural Science and Technology, were also held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy from 21 to 23 April. The experts appointed by the Ministry of Culture gathered in Shanghai and carried out strict appraisal of each application project.
