The annual graduation season is forthcoming as expected. In order to facilitate the employment of the graduating students, every year the College of Chinese Traditional Opera will establish channels for the graduating students to link up with the theatres and troupes. In the afternoon of 27 March, the Year 2015 graduation recommendation performance of the Peking opera major and Chinese traditional opera musical theatre major was held at the Duanjun Theatre. 11 renowned Peking opera theatres and troupes from across China were invited to observe the performance and select reserve talents in Chinese traditional opera.
The Peking opera major and Chinese traditional opera musical theatre major are among the key majors of the performing art category of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. After four years of dedicated study, the students of these two majors have made noticeable progress in their professional capacity. Altogether 11 performance of Peking opera highlights were staged on this occasion with a full assortment of roles and musical instruments. The excellent performance by and serious attitude of the students won the unanimous praise of the audiences as well as the leaders and experts of the theatres and troupes. After the performance was over, the responsible persons of the various theatres and troupes talked with the graduating students so as to get a more comprehensive understanding of them.
It is through the graduation recommendation performance of this kind that the Shanghai Theatre Academy recommends its graduating students to the theatres, troupes and art schools around the country and create employment opportunities for the graduating students, thus establishing a talents supply-demand platform. The College of Chinese Traditional Theatre shoulders the significant tasks of inheriting and carrying forward the excellent traditional culture of China as well as cultivating outstanding talents in Chinese traditional opera. In its advancement going forward, the College of Chinese Traditional Opera will continue to carry forward its good tradition and, at the same time, innovate the talents cultivation models with the view of making new contribution to the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional opera.
