STA's Centre for Teaching Development holds 2nd workshop of its advanced study series

In the afternoon of 6 January 2015, the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Centre for Teaching Development held the 2nd workshop of its advanced study series and invited Prof Jin Zhongming of the East China Normal University to give a presentation entitled “Transformation of Curriculum Development and Teachers’ Way of Teaching”. Teachers of the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Acting Department, Directing Department, Theatrical Literature Department, College of Creative Studies and College of Film and TV Arts participated actively in the workshop. The workshop was chaired by Prof Li Zhenglin, Director of Academic Affairs Division.

Prof Jin Zhongming is a professor at the School of Education Science of the East China Normal University, whose main areas of research include the academic history of education, education for teachers and issues of contemporary education.

Prof Jin talked about the histories of curriculum development in the East and the West and provided a detailed introduction about the course of change and development in ways of teaching in the East and the West. He also presented some constructive case studies about how to better communicate with students.

Prof Jin’s humorous and interactive way of teaching and his rich and profound knowledge of education made his workshop a unique experience for the participating teachers. The advance study series of the Centre for Teaching Development has been very well received by the teachers. Many of the teachers made time available for their busy schedule to participate in this 2nd workshop. Many teachers expressed that workshops of this kind about the methods and ways of teaching are exactly what the teachers desire to have.
