On 5 January 2015, Ms Xi Meijuan, the famous performing artist, was appointed a guest professor of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. At the appointment ceremony, Ms Xi, who is the winner of the Outstanding Contribution Award of the 6th Shanghai Culture and Art Awards, expressed that she was educated at the Shanghai Theatre Academy and is much honored to be able to also teach at the Shanghai Theatre Academy. She hoped that in the future, she would be able to explore and make progress in the performing careers together with the teachers and students of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
The appointment ceremony was chaired by Ms Hu Min, Deputy Party Secretary of Shanghai Theatre Academy. Mr Han Sheng, President of Shanghai Theatre Academy, presented the guest professor certificate to Ms Xi and expressed the warm welcome for Ms Xi to be a member of the faculty. Mr Zhang Shengquan, Director of Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Publicity Department, Mr Sun Huizhu, Playwright of “China Dream” and Mr Wang Xueming, Deputy Party Secretary of Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Acting Department attended the ceremony.
As one of the best-known actresses in China, Ms Xi won her first-ever important award, i.e. China Theatre Plum Award, for her starring role in the freehand drama “China Dream” created by the team of Shanghai Theatre Academy. This time, she also joined the new version of “China Dream” created by the Shanghai Theatre Academy and directed by Sun Huizhu, but as an advisor and to make comments about the performance of the students.
