The awards ceremony of the 9th China Modern Drama Gold Lion Award and the 6th Theatre Olympics was held in Taiyuan City of Shanxi Province on 27 December. Ms Liu Wanling, a teacher of Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Department of Acting, won the Acting Award. Mr Shi Jun, a teacher of Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Department of Directing, won the Critics Award. Mr He Yan, a teacher of Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Department of Acting, won the Outstanding Teacher Award (a newly created award this year). Mr Jiao Huang and Mr Zhao Youliang, alumni of Shanghai Theatre Academy, won the Lifetime Honorary Award for their outstanding contribution to the modern drama undertakings.
"Yuan Ye” directed by Mr He Yan and produced by Jin Ye won the Demonstration Performance Medallion of the National Modern Drama Theatres and Troupes Division of the 6th Theatre Olympics. On behalf of Shanghai Theatre Academy, Mr He Yan accepted the award on the stage from the Organizing Committee. The Theatre Olympics, a global theatre event initiated by a number of theatre masters including Theodoros Terzopoulos, Suzuki Tadashi and Robert Wilson, is held once every four years and has now become a great event showcasing the theatrical performances and results of academic studies at the highest level of each participating country. The 6th Theatre Olympics was hosted by China and achieved a great success.
At the ceremony, the Chinese Drama Research Society issued a notice of recognition to the Shanghai Theatre Academy for its outstanding work performance in 2014.
