On 10 December, the opening ceremony of the 2014 New Students Photography Exhibition of STA’s College of Film and Television was held in the lobby of the library on STA’s Lianhua Road campus. The exhibition, which will last for three days, displays the works of students from the two undergraduate classes of Year 2014 radio broadcasting and TV directing and Year 2014 film and TV production and one advanced study class of radio broadcasting and TV directing.

Since the exhibition was first held last year, it has enjoyed good reputation. The founder of the exhibition is Mr Gao Ziyi, who is the teacher of the photography subject and a National Grade A photographer. In his speech, Mr Gao said that all the exhibits are from the daily assignments of the students and are displayed as they are without any “make up”. He said that the exhibition demonstrates the results of the students’ efforts in the first semester and is a test of their professional skills. He told the students that as a technique, photography accepts nothing deceptive and there are lots of things to learn throughout their school and career lives, so a good learning habit is sometimes more important than the technique itself.

A number of teachers also attended the opening ceremony together with the students and toured exhibition afterwards. They were all amazed how much progress the students had made during such a short time and expressed their admiration for Mr Gao’s conscientious and serious working attitude and style. The leaders of the College of Film and TV, after touring the exhibition, expressed their hope for this kind of showcase of educational which is attractive in the form and of fine quality in the content to not only continue, but also expand over time in the scale, so as to create more extensive impact in promoting the scientific and healthy development of the film and TV teaching of the college.
