Recently, the 21st training workshop of the University Students Theatrical Arts Practice Base was held successfully at Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce. Mr Zhang Shengquan, Director of Publicity Department, Shanghai Theatre Academy and Ms Ni Yan, Executive Deputy Director of Art Education Centre, Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce, attended the opening ceremony of the workshop together with over 30 students from Donghua University, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce.
The training workshop was for four weeks and focused on the comprehensive training of acting skills. After the training, a number of students performed extremely well in the finals of the Shanghai University Students Reading Competition. Many students brought the theatrical knowledge and skills back to their universities for proactive practice and created a number of campus theatre works at professional standards. The students expressed that they would continue to improve their works aiming for the participation in the 5th China Campus Theatre Festival next year.
Established in May 2007, Shanghai Theatre Academy University Students Theatrical Arts Practice Base has held 21 training workshops to date, making an outstanding contribution to the popularization of theatrical arts.
