The 4th China Campus Theatre Festival will open tonight (3 November) at the STA Theatre of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The theme of this year’s campus theatre festival is “China Dream, Youth Dream”. The press conference of the theatre festival was held successfully this afternoon. Mr Guo Yu, Vice President of STA and Mr Zhang Shengquan, Director of Publicity Department of STA, attended the press conference.
The relevant offices and performance centre of STA worked closely in preparation for the theatre festival. All preparatory works are in place. Welcome banners, posters and direction boards are put on throughout the campus in anticipation of the arrival of teachers and students of competing teams from all over China as well as the guests of honour and judges coming as observers.
This year, the play representing STA at the festival is “China Dream”. This play, when it was first staged several years ago, became the hottest topic of the theatrical circles at that time for its approach, conception and characterization. It also created the incomparable record that both the starting actor and actress, Zhou Yemang and Xi Meijuan, won the Plum Performance Award of Chinese Theatre. On this occasion, STA will bring this play onto the stage once again, which best suits the theme of this year’s campus theatre festival, that is, “China Dream, Youth Dream”. Now, led by Prof Sun Huizhu who is the playwright and director of this play, the STA team has been rehearing tirelessly day and night with the aspiration to present an excellent performance to the audience.
STA achieved great results in the previous three China campus theatre festivals. Each gold award winning play from “Wind Chime” to “A Moment Doesn’t Last Forever” and to “Children of the Country” was the crystal of the joint efforts of the teachers and students and reflected STA’s attention and input to teaching performances. We expect STA to make another splendid achievement in the 4th China Campus Theatre Festival.
