From 28 September to 4 October 2014, Mr Lou Wei, Chairman of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), visited France and the United States to discuss future cooperation with the relevant international organization and universities. Mr Lou was accompanied by Professor William Sun and Associate Professor Shen Liang of STA.
In France, Mr Lou and party visited the Paris-based International Theatre Institute (ITI) under UNESCO where they held detailed discussions with Mr Tobias Biancone, Secretary-General of ITA on the technical matters about the relocation of the ITI head office to Shanghai.
After the visit in France, Mr Lou and party travelled to Washington DC where they visited the Georgetown University and met with Prof Joseph Ferrara, Assistant President and Head of President’s Office of Georgetown University, Professor Cynthia Schneider of the College of Foreign Affairs, who is former US Ambassador to the Netherlands, and Professor Derek of the College of Theatre for discussions about the planning for the establishment of the international performing act university alliance which is a joint initiative of STA and Georgetown University. During the visit in the US, Mr Lou and party also visited the Department of Theatre of the Columbia University in New York and discussed the cooperation between the two sides in the Winter Institute program. While in New York, they also visited the Now York Film Academy where they met with the STA students and alumni who are currently studying at NYFA and held a meeting with Mr Jerry Sherlock, Director of NYFA, about further cooperation.
