This year marks the 30th anniversary of the enrolment of the Year 1984 alumni of the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Acting Department. On 19 September, the Acting Department held the event of Year 1984 alumni 30 years reunion and teaching excellence seminar. The purposes of the event was to review and commemorate the past 30 years, sort out the Acting Department’s evolution in teaching excellence, upgrade the teaching and research capability of the middle-aged and young faculty and better plan the Acting Department’s future development.
The Year 1984 alumni of the Acting Department came back to the Alma Mater from home and abroad for the event. They toured the campus, refreshed their memories of the university life and took pictures with their former teachers. STA’s Party Secretary Lou Wei and President Han Sheng participated in the event and gave speeches. The event was chaired by Vice President Huang Changyong. Over 20 teachers, including their former teachers for professional courses and general courses, as well as the STA president and dean of acting department at that time, joined the event during which they shared with great pleasure the teaching experience related to the Year 1984 class as well as the teacher-student friendship.
The Acting Department capitalized on the opportunity of the alumni reunion to further strengthen the friendly contacts and increase the partnership with the alumni. During the event, You Yong, a famous alumni of Year 1984 class, proposed to organize the former classmates to rehearse and stage a modern drama as a birthday gift for the 70th anniversary of the Alma Mater.
