In the morning of 26 June, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held its 2014 Graduation Ceremony at the STA Theatre. The entire STA leadership was present at the graduation ceremony, together with the Chair of the STA Academic Committee and heads of all colleges, departments and functional offices. The graduation ceremony was presided over by Ms Hu Min, Vice Chairman of STA. Over 500 graduating students attended the graduation ceremony, joined by the teacher and parent representatives.
The graduation ceremony began with the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China. Prof Guo Yu, Vice President of STA, read out the name list of outstanding graduates at the municipal and university levels, and Mr Zhang Weiling, Vice President of STA, read out the name list of outstanding graduation theses. The award winning graduates received their certificate of honour from the STA leaders. Then, two student representatives gave speeches on behalf of the graduates of the undergraduate programs and postgraduate programs respectively. A parent representative and a teacher representative also gave speeches on the stage. To express their gratitude for the teachers, all graduates shouted in unison “thank you teacher” and “we love you teacher” with profound feelings. They hugged the teachers with tears in their eyes.
Prof Han Sheng, President of STA, was welcome onto the stage with warm clapping and gave a keynote speech on behalf of the university. To the accompaniment of the STA anthem, Mr Lou Wei, Chairman of STA, conducted the STA flag handover proceeding. All graduating students participate in the oath stating that “we grow up at STA and endeavor to achieve our success in the future and we uphold the STA spirit and take the mission of the times on our shoulders”. Prof Huang Changyong and Prof Gong Baorong, the two STA vice presidents, conducted the bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctor’s degree conferring ceremonies in succession. The eligible students went onto the stage one after another and received the degree certificate from the STA leaders. At the end of the graduation ceremony, all teachers and students sang the graduation song in chorus and took the group photo.
The graduation ceremony was over. However, for the new graduates, their journey of life has just begun. Let’s give them our best wishes for a bright and promising future.
