On the morning of 23 June, the second session of the 2014 Art Talents Integrated Selection and Cultivation Seminar was held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). Mr Wang Ping, Deputy Director-General of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SMEC) and Prof Wang Changyong, Vice President of STA attended the meeting. Other participant included the persons-in-charge from the relevant divisions and offices of SMEC and STA, as well as the principles of six top-tie senior high schools in Shanghai.
The exchange and discussion during the meeting was focused on how to integrate the so called art talents cultivation base into the secondary education thus building a solid foundation for the cultivation of art talents at the tertiary education level. The meeting identified the theoretical studies, curriculum studies, structural constraints on teachers and cultivation of specialized teachers as the four key issues to be explored and addressed in the integration of art education programs into secondary education.
