Professor of Columbia University holds lecture series on arts management at STA

At the invitation of the Department of Postgraduate Programs of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), Prof Michael Passaro from the Columbia University of USA will be holding a lecture series on Broadway theatre arts management at the Wisteria Cottage from 30 May to 12 June. Prof Gong Baorong, Vice President of STA met with Prof Michael Passaro after the first lecture and expressed the appreciation for his excellent lecture.

Broadway theatre is an important element in the New York cultural and even the American culture. The influence of this important element becomes even more prominent with the packaging and promotion through Broadway theatre arts management. Prof Michael Passaro is a leading producer and stage manager in Broadway theatre, especially, Broadway musical theatre, having won so many theatre awards in USA and gained very high popularity in the market. At the same time, he is also a MA student advisor and a professor in theatre arts management at the Columbia University. Also, his rich experience in stage management combined with his in-depth theoretical knowledge has made him an excellent speaker in university lecturer room. There is no doubt that the students of STA will learn more knowledge and get more aspiration from his lecturers in the next two weeks.

Prof Hu Kaiqi, the STA scholar living in USA and famous theatre translator, will act as the Chinese interpreter during the lectures. The lectures will be held daily (except for Friday 6 June) at the Wisteria Cottage from 9 am to 12 noon during the period from 30 May to 12 June. Teachers and students are welcome to participate in the lectures.
