On the afternoon of 29 May, the 2014 STA Start Your Business Competition and the opening ceremony of the STA Entrepreneurs Consortium were held at the Virtual Studio of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). Hu Min, Vice Chairman of STA and Tang Hong, Deputy Director of Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of the Jiang’an District Government, attended the event during which they unveiled the plaque of the STA Entrepreneurs Consortium and presented the membership certificates to the members of the consortium.
With the support of the Employment Promotion Centre of the Jing’an District Government, STA has been holding the start your business (SYB) salons and SYB competitions annually since 2009. This year’s SYB competition was also supported by the Shanghai Science and Technology Venture Foundation. Over the past five years, about 30 students have set up their own companies. The establishment of the STA Entrepreneurs Consortium will better serve these students who have started or wish to start their own businesses by building up a platform for them to exchange information, share resources and cooperate to achieve common success. In the meantime, it is hoped that such a platform will further stimulate the enthusiasm of the students to start their own businesses and enable them to share the successful experiences, with a view to mobilizing employment through entrepreneurship and promoting employment through entrepreneurship.
