In the afternoon of 13 March, at the invitation of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), Wu Jianmin, who is former Chinese Ambassador to France and former President of China Foreign Affairs University, came to STA and gave a briefing on the current international situation. The briefing was held at the Duanjun Theatre and chaired by STA Chairman Lou Wei. The audience included STA Vice Chairman Wu Min, entire STA middle management, retired cadres, representatives of teaching and administrative staff, and student representatives.
Ambassador Wu’s briefing covered the key issues in the current international environment and the challenges faced by China. He elaborated on the transition from single-polarization to multi-polarization in today’s world, the contest between the two trends of peaceful co-development and cold war confrontation, and the world’s three centres of financial crisis, political turbulence and economic growth.
During the question and answer session at the end of the briefing, Ambassador Wu shared his insight with the audience on some of the recent hot political issues and news events, such as the political unrest in Ukraine and the Malaysia Airlines MH370 incident.
