Pr. PAN Jianhua Received the Academic Prize from the Ministry of Culture

PAN Jianhua, professor of Shanghai Theatre Academy, received the Academic Prize for the Succession of Chinese Clothing Culture from the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China.


The Prize was established by the Department for Cultural Industry affiliated to the Ministry of Culture to promote researches on the succession of Chinese clothing culture and enhance the construction of a sound discipline. The Prize is awarded to he who has made great contribution to, offer unique perspective to or found cutting-edge results for the discipline construction and he whose paper on the subject has been published and widely quoted both home and abroad. Two parallel Prizes for the succession of Chinese clothing culture, the Design Prize and the Promotion Prize, have been set for an annual receiver respectively.


After cautious evaluation and consideration, the 2013 Academic Prize for the Succession of Chinese Clothing Culture was awarded to Pr. PAN, who authored Stage Costume Design and Technique, a key textbook identified by the Ministry of Culture. Another monograph of him, Traditional Needlecraft--- the Art in Boudoirs, was selected as one of the most beautiful books in China and won the Leipzig International Book Prize. His works fully demonstrate the academic standard of STA and the professional skill of its faculty.
