On the morning of November 22, Vice Mayor Weng Tiehui, companied by Su Ming, the Director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and Li Ruiyang, Vide Director, visited STA for researches about the construction of the new campus and the development of the disciplines and subjects. Leaders of STA such as Lou Wei and Han Sheng attended the reception and made project report about the related work.
Comrade Han Sheng reported on the following subjects: the introduction of STA, the target of the construction of STA, the plan of the discipline construction, the communication and cooperation both home and abroad, the progress of the project about the association of the culture and education. Vice President Zhang Weiling introduced the construction of the new Pujiang campus, and reported specifically the problems in the changing project of the Hongqiao Rd. Campus.
Director Su Ming said: As an art college, STA plays an important part in the leading of the city culture. And the municipal Education commission will support the development of STA in terms of the campus construction and department and discipline construction
Vice Mayor Weng Tiehui pointed out: STA possesses an important place in the development of Shanghai Culture and municipal construction. STA should seize its opportunity, clarify the target of the discipline construction according to the development of its own, and establish an evaluation index system which is relatively complete. STA is supposed to take the chance of the new campus construction to considerate and discuss the mid-term and long-term development strategy, especially the consideration and planning of the talent education. Talents are the keys to the development of the academy. The Academy should attracted many masters and make preparation for the echelon building of the teachers.
At last, Vice Mayor Weng Tiehui demanded that the Municipal Education Commission should greatly support the development of STA in term s of the cooperation of culture and education. STA should broaden the mind in the consideration about the development of the academy. STA should explore the development rules of the discipline and department and innovate the working scheme to try to establish modern college system for art colleges, and, eventually, to make contribution for the development of the art and culture in Shanghai and even the whole China.
