Evening News Oct. 29, 2013, Reporter: Shu Xiaocheng
Wang Jingchun graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy, and actor Lu Yi and actress Tian Hairong are his classmates. When he recalled the last 10 years drifting in Beijing in the interview, he confessed, “The reason that I can struggle without any burden is that I have the Actor Theatre Group as my strong back.” In reward to the cares he received from the Actor Theatre Group, he decided to give his trophy to the Theatre Group as a birthday gift.
Wang Jingchun is the fifth Chinese who won the honor of the best actor, after Zhang Yimou, Niu Zhenhua, Zhu Xu and Wang Qianyuan, the leading actor of the film The Piano in the Factory. After he won the honor of the best actor, Wang Jingchun was exciting with tears in his eyes, “I didn't expect that at all. I thought it already an honor if I can go there to attend the contest.” All suffers in the 10 years' drifting was finally relieved at that moment. “I didn't leave Shanghai after graduation, but later many friends talked me into trying in Beijing. It has been 10 years. I used to be a stranger, and I used to be not given any chance in a play. Then someone offered me a job. And step by step now I am here. I believe no pains no gains. "
As for future, Wang Jingchun said that he wouldn’t set many boundaries for himself and he would love to try on more new characters. “I played policeman in Crazy Roses and Police Diary, and both won prize for me. It doesn't prove that I'd like to play policeman. Actually, I love all kinds of challenges. Men and Women in the City is a comedy. And I also do tragedy; and Me 11 is the melodrama I like, and I don't want to put boundaries for myself.” He said the two films afterwards are love comedy, “I will try some characters in the comedy, and see what else I can do with interest.”
