Invited by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), arranged by Dr. Gu Tiehua, a famous industrialist and an excellent singer of Peking& Kun Opera, a delegation over 60 persons from opera college and opera school affiliated to STA visited Hong Kong for the 3-days performance and activities of 50th anniversary of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The team was led by the Deputy President of STA & Principle of theatre school Guo Yu.

This activity is an important part of “the Peking/Kun/Cantonese Opera Inheritance Trip” which is organized for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of CUHK. The event gains attention from celebrities of different fields in Hong Kong. STA brought 8 chapters of opera there, four of them are Peking Opera and 4 Kun Opera. Kun Operas are the Tale of the Green Tomb-At the Frontier, the Tale of the Following Plan- Dressing Up, the Tale of Washing Yarn-washing Yarn Together, the Tale of the Long-live Palace-Small Banquets. Peking Opera are Wu Song Bolt to the Taven, Yuelai Taven, General and Premier Make up, the Drunken Concubine. The operas were all showed in Shaoyifu Hall surrounded by hills and green trees.

CUHK President Shen Zuyao, Gu Tiehua and Li Hesheng made considerate preparation for the performance, which guarantees the well-going of the activity. In this communication and interaction with CUHK, we feels the abundant cultural atmosphere and tolerance to the culture on campus in Hong Kong, which was reflected in the campus atmosphere, personality of the students, and the careful attitude towards the details. we should learn a lot from that. On the welcoming ceremony on 8 Oct, Mr Mei Baojiu and Guo Yu, Deputy President of STA, were invited to the stage. Mr Guo gave CUHK three sets of books newly published by STA-----Letters of Yu Sulu, Letters of Yu Zhenfei, A Research on Yu Zhenfei by Yu Sulu. Much deeper communication on the inheritance of culture and art between STA and CUHK will be greatly expected.
