Mr Zhang Weiling was born in December 1964. He is of Han ethnicity, and his family origin is Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. He joined the Communist Party of China in June 1983. He holds a bachelor's degree in law from a full-time undergraduate program and a master's degree in law from an on-the-job postgraduate program. He holds the professional title of associate professor. Mr Zhang started his career in July 1987 and has successively served as Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee at the Shanghai Jiaotong University; Deputy Director of the CPC Committee’s Office and President’s Office cum Director of the Minhang Campus Office at the Shanghai Jiaotong University; Director of the President’s Office at the Shanghai Jiaotong University; Director of the General Office at the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Vice President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Mr Zhang is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and a member of the leadership team at the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
