Mr Guo Kai was born in February 1979. He is of Han ethnicity, and his family origin is Xiamen, Fujian Province. He became a member of the Communist Party of China in July 2000. He holds a bachelor's degree in literature from a full-time undergraduate program and a master's degree in literature from an on-the-job postgraduate program. Mr Guo started his career in July 2002 and has successively served as the Secretary of the CPC Branch and Deputy Dean of the Musical Theatre Department at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music; Director of the Student Affairs Department, Director of the Student Affairs Office and Director of the Department of People’s Armed Forces at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music; Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee, Director of the Organization Department of the CPC Committee, Director of the Faculty Work Department of the CPC Committee, Director of the Inspection Office of the CPC Committee, Director of the Personnel Office and Secretary of the CPC Committee for Administrative Functions at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Mr Guo is currently a Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
