Mr Nie Wei was born in August 1975. He is of Han ethnicity, and his family origin is Nanyang, Henan Province. He became a member of the Communist Party of China in 1996. He holds a PhD in literature from a full-time graduate program, and is a professor and a doctoral supervisor. Mr Nie began his career in August 2003, and has served as the chief expert for the “Innovation of Film Industry and Chinese Stories” at the Shanghai Social Sciences Innovation Research Base, a member of the Subcommittee for Theatre, Chinese Opera, Radio, Film and Television of the Third National Graduate Education Steering Committee for Professional Degrees in Art Subjects, a member of the Discipline Review Group (Theatre, Film and TV Studies) of the Fifth Shanghai Academic Degree Committee, and the Deputy Director of the First Shanghai Graduate Education Steering Committee for Professional Degrees in Art Subjects. He concurrently serves as the Deputy Director of the Theoretical Criticism Committee of the China Television Artists Association, a council member of the China Literature and Art Critics Association, and Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Film Association. Mr Nie is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
