Mr Liu Qing was born in July 1970. He is of Han ethnicity, and his family origin is Guiyang, Guizhou Province. He is unaffiliated with any political party. He holds a master's degree in literature from a full-time graduate program and a PhD degree in literature from an on-the-job graduate program. He is a professor and a doctoral supervisor. Mr Liu began his career in July 1991 and has served as Vice Dean of the Department of Dramatic Literature, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, Vice Dean/Acting Dean of the Department of Dramatic Literature, and Dean of the Department of Dramatic Literature at the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Concurrently, he also serves as a council member of the China Association of Higher Education, Vice President of the Shanghai Association of Higher Education, and chief editor of the drama section of the "Cihai" encyclopedia. Mr Liu is currently Vice President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
