At the Shanghai Theatre Academy, the teaching of recitation is one of the most important courses in the Department of Acting, and it is an important way to portray characters. In society, recitation is one of the most popular cultural expressions among the masses. How to further enhance the teaching of recitation art as well as the artistic qualify of recitation activities in society in the new era? The Academic Affairs Office, the Education and Teaching Centre and the "Taste Recitation Studio" at the Shanghai Theatre Academy conducted a public class on "Language Skills Training", a national first-class online and offline mixed undergraduate course and a model undergraduate classroom for Shanghai-based higher education institutions, with the theme of "Searching", on the evening of 20 September at the Duanjun Theatre. Professor Wang Su, the head of the course and the “taste recitation” expert, invited four famous artists to present their masterpieces on the same stage and express their own views, thereby creating a new mode of language arts teaching.
The four famous artists invited to participate in tonight's open class were film artist Zhao Jing, film and television artist Liu Jiazhen, film dubbing artist Di Feifei, and broadcasting artist Fang Zhou. Wang Su, as the main presenter, together with the four famous artists, performed ancient and modern Chinese and foreign masterpieces reflecting the stage presentation of the art of recitation, and introduced their respective creative experiences.
The views shared by the five famous artists in this open class also featured certain different insights, which provoked much thinking. These artists have made extremely valuable explorations around the enhancement of line teaching and the promotion of the prosperity and development of recitation art in society. Teachers and students of the Shanghai Theatre Academy and friends from the language arts community observed this public teaching class, and there was applause from time to time during the class. This innovative art exchange event was unique and well received.
