On 22 April, the academic forum on drama, with the annual theme of "Drama and City - High Quality Development of Drama and Construction of People's City", was held at the Suhewan Centre in Jing'an District. This forum was jointly hosted by the People's Government of Jing'an District, the Shanghai Radio and Television Station, and the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and was jointly organized by the Department of Dramatic Literature at Shanghai Theatre Academy and the Jing'an District Bureau of Culture and Tourism Bureau. The forum was chaired by Liu Qing, Vice President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and attended by leaders and experts to jointly explore the linkage between drama development and city construction.
Chen Hong, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jing'an District Committee and Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Jing’an District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, delivered a speech on behalf of the host organization. Huang Changyong, President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, delivered a speech on behalf of the co-host organizations.
Then, the participating experts discussed how the high-quality development of drama could be transformed into the achievements in the construction of people's city, being a significant topic of the times. Keynote speakers included Hu Zhiyi, a professor at the Zhejiang University and president of the Chinese Drama Theory and History Research Association; Zhou Anhua, Vice President of the Nanjing University of Communications and Director of the Asia Film, Television and Media Research Centre at Nanjing University; Ma Chencheng, President of SMGLive; Wei Zhi, President of the Shanghai Performance Industry Association; Chen Jun, Dean of the Department of Dramatic Literature at Shanghai Theatre Academy; Yang Zi, Associate Research Fellow at the Shanghai Art Research Centre; Ke Yiqi, Assistant to Chairman of Fengyuzhu Culture and Technology Co Ltd; Li Shitao, Deputy Dean of the Department of Dramatic Literature at Shanghai Theatre Academy; Zhu Guang, Editor-in-Chief of the Culture and Sports Centre at Xinmin Evening News.
As an important component of the Shanghai Jing'an Modern Drama Valley, this drama forum conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the integration and coexistence of city and drama from both academic and practical perspectives, providing new perspectives and methods for the high-quality development of drama and the construction of people's city.
