On the morning of 1 December, the Establishment Ceremony & the 1^st Plenary Session of the International Advisory Committee on Film Education of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) was held at the Changlin Road Campus of STA.

The STA International Advisory Committee on Film Education is a decision-making advisory body, which will provide strategic and constructive decision-making recommendations for the development of the STA College of Film, and it will hold a plenary session every year during the anniversary celebration of STA. Li Zhenlin, Dean of the STA College of Film, presided over the establishment ceremony of the STA International Advisory Committee on Film Education. He announced the list of members of the first International Advisory Committee on Film Education. Ren Zhonglun, Vice Chairman of the China Film Association, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles and Chairman of the Shanghai Film Association, is the chairman, and all the 19 members are well-known international and domestic filmmakers. Huang Changyong, President of STA, Zhou Yin’e, Deputy Party Secretary of STA, Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of STA, and Yang Yang, Vice President of STA, presented the certificates of appointment to the members of the STA International Advisory Committee on Film Education.

The first plenary session of the STA International Advisory Committee on Film Education was presided over by Ren Zhonglun, Chairman of the Committee. First of all, Li Zhenlin, Dean of the STA College of Film, introduced the development program of the STA College of Film during the 14th Five Year Plan period.

The theme of the meeting was "How to Build a Future-oriented Flagship International Film College". Mike Medavoy, famous Hollywood producer; Adriano de Santis, Director of the Rome Film Experiment Centre; Jiang Ping, Deputy General Manager of the China Film Group Corporation and Director of the CFGC Artistic Committee; Lu Wei, famous film screenwriter; Jan Schutte, distinguished professor of STA, professor of Harvard University and former deans of the American Film Institute and the Film School Berlin; Kees Van Oostrum, distinguished professor of STA and President of the International Cinematographer Association; Feng Wei, Vice President (Asia Pacific) and President (Greater China) of the American Film Association; Gong Yu, CEO of iQiYi; Jiang Haiyang, national first-class director of the Shanghai Film Group Corporation and consultant for the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government; Rao Shuguang, President of the China Film Critics Association; Stanley Tong, President of the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild; Lu Xinyu, Dean of the College of Communication of East China Normal University; He Xiaoqing, Executive Dean of the Shanghai Film Academy of Shanghai University; Zhao Bingxiang, Dean of the College of Film, Television and Media of Shanghai Normal University; and Chen Xiaoda, Deputy Director of the Film Division of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, delivered speeches on the theme of the conference, expressing their own opinions in an extensive and profound way.

Finally, Huang Changyong, President of STA, delivered a speech. The establishment ceremony and the first plenary session of the STA International Advisory Committee on Film Education came to a successful conclusion on the jubilant day of the 75^th anniversary of the founding of STA. Ren Zhonglun, Chairman of the Committee, sent a message at the plenary session, hoping that the committee members can make more constructive, thoughtful and practical suggestions on the development of the STA College of Film in the future, so as to jointly promote the development of the STA College of Film.
