On the morning of 20 November 2020, Yang Yang, Vice President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), led a group comprising Zhi Yunbao, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Office, and five other relevant staff to the STA College of Chinese Opera for an investigation and research.

This investigation and research visit focused on listening to the opinions and suggestions of teachers of the College of Chinese Opera on the scientific research work of the College, and on improving the level of management and comprehensive service for scientific research work. Jiang Xiaohong, Party Secretary of the College of Chinese Opera, Huang Tunwei, Vice Dean of the College of Chinese Opera, and relevant teachers of the College participated in the investigation and research.

The investigation and research meeting was presided over by Jiang Xiaohong, Party Secretary of the College of Chinese opera. At the meeting, Huang Tunwei, Vice Dean of the College of Chinese Opera, first reported the scientific research results of the College during the 13th Five Year Plan period and provided an outlook of the scientific research planning for the 14th Five Year Plan period. Subsequently, the participating teachers of the College of Chinese Opera spoke enthusiastically and expressed their opinions on the orientation, faculty and discipline development, research project submission, library development, enrollment work and career development planning of the College. Zhi Yunbo, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Office of STA, mainly responded to the matters of concern to the teachers present at the meeting, introduced the status of work relevant to the Scientific Research Office, put forward practical suggestions to the teachers present, and shared the ideas for the future service work of the Scientific Research Office.

In his speech at the end of the meeting, Vice President Yang Yang summed up the issues and suggestions put forward by all participating teachers of the College of Chinese Opera. In combination with such macro background as the 14th Five Year Plan and the classified evaluation of higher education institutions in Shanghai, as well as the comprehensive layout of faculty, training objectives and majors on offer of STA, he analyzed in detail the current situation faced by STA and the College of Chinese Opera and the current status of scientific research. Vice President Yang Yang also shared valuable personal experience from a professional point of view and put forward ardent expectations and rigorous requirements for the teachers present at the meeting. Vice President Yang Yang also called on the teachers to "buy more books and read more books" as books are the "root", the "accumulation" and the "foundation", so it is important to develop good reading habits and improve humanistic accomplishment. He asked that teachers should also actively participate in relevant activities, take scientific research as a pleasure and turn it into internal motivation.
