On 19 November, the 5^th China Film Screenwriter Award Ceremony was held at the Changlin Road Campus of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). The award ceremony was sponsored by the China Film Literature Association and hosted by the Film College of Shanghai Theatre Academy. The theme of the award ceremony was "Let History Testify - Screenplay Is the Mother of Film Copyright". Two famous screenwriters Wang Yimin and Wang Jingzhu won the Lifetime Achievement Award, and other four famous screenwriters Qian Daoyuan, Lu Shoujun, Huang Shiying and Ling Shu won the Outstanding Contribution Award.

Before the award ceremony began, Tan Zhongchi, former vice chairman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, former chairman of the Hunan Federation of Literary and Artistic circles, and a national first-class writer, announced the establishment of the Shanghai Creation Center of China Film and Literature Society on behalf of the China Film Literature Association, and conducted the plaque unveiling ceremony. Affiliated to the Film College of Shanghai Theatre Academy, this creation center will serve film screenwriters in the Yangtze River Delta region, and will carry out a variety of activities such as seminars, training programs, candidate recommendations and exchange activities. Hu Min, Deputy Party Secretary of STA, delivered the welcoming speech.

Wang Xingdong, former vice president of the China Film Association and President of the China Film Literature Association, delivered a speech entitled "Screenplay Is the Mother of Film Copyright - Salute the Creators of Screenplays". Liu Junhua, Director of the Intellectual Property Tribunal of Shanghai High People's Court, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

The first award presented at the award ceremony was the Outstanding Contribution Award. Tan Zhongchi read out the award presentation speech and presented the award to screenwriter Qian Daoyuan. Ma Weigan, former deputy director-general of the Art Bureau of the Publicity Department of the General Political Department of the PLA, former deputy director of the August First Film Studio and national first-class screenwriter, read out the award presentation speech and presented the Outstanding Contribution Award to screenwriter Lu Shoujun. Professor Li Zhenlin, dean of the Film College of Shanghai Theatre Academy and vice president of the China Film Literature Association, read out the award presentation speech and presented Huang Shiying with the Outstanding Contribution Award. Hu Min, deputy Party secretary of STA, read out the award presentation speech and presented the Outstanding Contribution Award to screenwriter Ling Shu.

Finally, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to two screen writers. The first one was screenwriter Wang Yimin. Huang Yaya, former vice chairman of the China Writers' Association, former chairman of the Zhejiang Writers' Association, vice president of the China Film Literature Association and national first-class writer, read out the award presentation speech and presented the award to him. Ms Wang Jingzhu was the other winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Wang Xingdong, President of the China Film Literature Association, delivered the award presentation speech and presented the award to her. Zhang Liang, Wang Jingzhu's husband, and a famous acting and directing artist, and the actor of Dong Cunrui in the film “Dong Cunrui”, came to the award ceremony as an accompanying family member to witness the moment and give a speech.

At the end of the award ceremony, the veteran screenwriters jointly signed “In the Name of the Copyright Law, Please Respect the Right of Authorship of the Author Who Owns the Copyright of Screenplay - A Letter from Veteran Screenwriters to the Media”.
