Ming Cho Lee
He is a lifetime professor in Yale University currently and a distinguished stage designer of Chinese descent. He has been reputed as “a giant in contemporary stage design in the world” and “a master in American stage design”. American Set Design (published in 1985) selects ten greatest contemporary stage designers, including Ming Cho Lee and five of his students.
His major works include Electra (it was played in New York Shakespeare Festival and marked a turning point in American stage design with its multi-level extension stage and three sculpture-like and symbolic flats hanging under the scaffold.), K2 (it won a Tony Award for him), The Shadow Box, Two Gentlemen of Verona and Much ado about Nothing.
